Space for Yoga
Namaste! Most likely
my favorite word to say. Other than Coffee. Namaste I bow to the divine in you.
I literally means I bow to you. I mostly used in yoga class or meditation. Yoga
is something I am passionate about I try do at least three times a day. Having
a space to do yoga can be tricky at times. Some day I will have a yoga area but
until then living room or out door patio will do. The things i would put in my
yoga space and what I believe is a must i will share. Yoga space has a few
needs to really get the full experience. Yoga is not just an exercise it is a
practice. Yoga is to some, a life style. As for space a yoga room or corner is
something every yogi should strive for. I will help with a few needs.
Lets start with
basic equipment to gather needed to participate in yoga. I know this might go
with out any say. Yoga mat is must. None slip surface with plenty of
comfortable padding to protect knees and hands. There are a lot of different
styles and sizes. Research and try out different ones that fit you. During yoga
you may sweat a lot. Need to protect your knees. A Towle on hand will be handy.
To really get full relaxing experience. Amerce yourself in a fragrance that
really relaxes you. Brings you to a calm stat of mind. I love citrus and
peppermint. That always relax me. Something soothing playing with a video you
love always helps. Get yourself in the zone.
Finding the spot is possibly the hardiest part of it all.
I prefer outside be
with nature is the best. I get relaxed and soothing. Soak up the sun. Granted outside is not always
available. Inside is sometimes needed. So clear out some space might be
required. Purge out a corner for your yoga space. It can also be very
therapeutic to clean out what is not needed anymore. Some believe having a
mantel or something to inspirational to look at like a Buddha or goddess statue
while doing yoga helps. Inspire to do yoga feel strong physically and
spiritually. Each to there own. Make yoga into your own experience and routine.
Of course have the materials to learn form can be helpful.
How you do yoga or
learn yoga is different for everyone. There are you tube videos. My personal
favorite is Yoga with Adriene she has so many videos. One for every day of the
year just about. Her 30 day yoga challenges can really get you in a routine for
yoga. There are books that you can study and learn what each pose means and try
out different routines. Yoga Journal is very informative and easy to read. Has
different types of mats, recipes, and poses for you to try. There is yoga
instructors in the magazine for you to learn from. There of course plenty
different videos. I would of course try out the beginner ones if you are new to
yoga.
They say you are
more likely to do something if you write it down. I believe this to be true. I
have planner and I am more likely to do yoga if I write it down in my schedule.
Make yoga an appointment for your self. Carve out time in your schedule write it
down. Let your family know that this is your yoga time. MY planner has Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday set for yoga at 5am. That is my me time appointment. Like
everything else in life if you make appointment time you are more likely to
make. Sometimes late but better late than never. Make time for your self and some self love is
the most therapeutic thing you could do for yourself.
Finding time for
yoga is key to it all. Other wise the yoga mate and accessories are just items
in your house. Try out different mates and pillows to use for yoga. Smell
different oils, candles, or waxes for aroma therapy. Ask other yogis what they
use. Research and experiment. Enjoy your journey of yoga. Namaste.
